ONE OF THE 15 BEST FOREIGN LAWYERS IN THE USA, ILIJANA TODOROVIĆ GAVE A LECTURE AT "APEIRON"

Ilijana Todorović from Mrkonjić Grad, one of the 15 best foreign lawyers in the United States of America, spoke today to students, teachers and the general public about Anglo-Saxon law, European-continental law, courtroom life and many personal experiences. Ilijana's guest appearance was made possible by the Center for Career Guidance of the Pan-European University, in order to give its students the chance to hear a comparison of the laws of our areas and the legal waters in which Ilijana swims, as well as some specific examples she has gone through in her career.

She completed three master's degrees in the USA.

  • Saint Louis University School of Law, International law and legal studies · (2013 – 2014);
  • Loyola University New Orleans College of Law Master of Laws (LL.M.) and Certificate in International Legal Studies, Law · (2015 – 2016);
  • Loyola University New Orleans College of Law Master of Laws – LLM, Civil Law · (2017 – 2018).

Between the second and third master's in 2016, she passed the New York state bar exam for the first time.

According to the statistics of the Bar Association of this country, the chances of a foreign student doing it the first time are only 18 percent. Not even people like John F. Kennedy, the younger son of the former American president, passed that bar exam the first time.

After becoming a member of the New York State Bar Association, she also became a member of the Washington DC Bar Association and holds an active bar license in both states. Hillary Clinton, for example, failed like Iliana - on her first attempt to become a lawyer in Washington.

After graduating from the Faculty of Law in Banja Luka with an average of 9,98, she applied for a master's degree in law in America, at some of the most prestigious law schools.

Ilijana's love for basketball is indescribable. That's why she decided to go to Saint Louis University School of Law, so that she could play college basketball, which originally brought her to America.

She played in the strongest college league and attended a master's degree in law, which, in the history of both the league and the university in St. Louis, has never happened before. An American university changed the rules because of her talent.

Despite an incredibly exhausting schedule of training and matches, in 2014 she was named the best Master's student of her generation and was presented with the "Don King Family Award" for academic success, and she completed her Master's degree the same year with high honors.

She also passed the bar exam in Texas and became a licensed notary as well as a mediator for the amicable resolution of disputes. Iliana is the founder and vice president of the Serbian Bar Association in America, which was launched last year.

When she went on a student exchange trip to New York for basketball, and in three weeks became the best player on her team, she didn't even think about staying in America. And the coaches and professors were impressed by her basketball skills.

Before leaving for America in Banja Luka, she graduated high school with excellent results, was an exceptional student at the "Petar Petrović Njegoš" elementary school, which she attended from the first to the fifth grade and became a student of the generation after finishing the ninth grade at the "Jovan Cvijić" school, where the Board of Directors broke the rule, so despite the fact that she had not been their student since the beginning of school, he declared her the best of the generation.
