STUDENTS IN "JELŠINGRAD" TESTED METALS AND ALLOYS AND OBSERVED CUTTING AND WELDING TECHNOLOGIES

Students in "Jelšingrad" examined metals and alloys and observed cutting and welding technologies

For students of the Faculty of Transport and Information Technologies of the Pan-European University "Apeiron", laboratory exercises were organized in the "Jelšingrad" steel foundry. Students investigated the mechanical characteristics of metals (tensile strength, hardness and toughness) and their alloys. In the foundry, they had the opportunity, in addition to casting technology, to learn about cutting, welding, testing, and heat treatment technologies.

"The exercises are a real example that clearly shows students the application of theory in practice. This issue is studied in the Materials and Processing Technologies courses, as well as in the Fundamentals of Mechanical Engineering," said prof. Tomislav Vujnović, Ph.D., who is engaged in the aforementioned cases. Professor Vujnović reminds that this type of teaching is foreseen in the course curriculum. Students had the opportunity to tour the entire factory and see how all the plants work.
