SWEDISH TRAFFIC EXPERTS FOR THE LECTURE CHOSEN APEIRON STUDENTS – THE FUTURE CARRIERS OF TRAFFIC PLANNING

On November 5, Michael Koucky, a Swedish expert for urban mobility, gave a lecture to the students of the Faculty of Transportation of the University "Apeiron" on the importance of the development of cycling in developed countries, with a particular emphasis on Gothenburg, where the guest came from. It is interesting that in this city over 100 people go to work by bicycle every day, despite the fact that there are over 000 rainy days a year. On the other hand, the guest from his experience wanted to point out to the students of this study program the possibilities that Banja Luka has in this area, because the city is very flat and on the contrary - it has over 200 sunny days a year. He chose the students of the Pan-European University for the reason that they are the future bearers of traffic planning and will certainly be able to contribute both to the better functioning of the city's infrastructure and to the reduction of air pollution itself.

In addition to the lecturer, who is a representative of the company Koucky & partners, "Apeiron" was also visited by his colleague Jacob Thaqvist and Helena Lundström and Anders Roth from the Swedish Institute for Environmental Protection https://www.ivl.se. The Swedish delegation was received by the dean and vice-dean of the Faculty of Transportation of the Pan-European University "Apeiron" prof. dr Tomislav Vujinović and prof. Dr. Danislav Drašković and senior assistant of this faculty Slavko Davidović. The Swedish Agency for International Development SIDA finances, and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency SEPA implements a project to improve traffic in BiH, through the introduction of ecological zones, traffic congestion charges or the promotion of cycling, through which significant reductions in emissions and air pollution can be achieved. It was this project that financed the arrival of a team of Swedish traffic and environmental experts in Bosnia and Herzegovina, during which they held a public lecture at "Apeiron" University.

It is important to note that the IMPAQ project brought four state-of-the-art air pollution measurement stations to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that it financed their IT integration together with other stations that already existed in Bosnia and Herzegovina into an interactive map. This map is visible on the project's website and pulls data every morning and indicates a daily comparison of the air quality index almost in real time.
