FACULTY OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES

"Your project for the future"

SCIENTIFIC FIELDS AND NATIVITY

The Faculty of Information Technology is specialized in the basic scientific areas of computer science (fundamentals of programming, theory of algorithms, architecture and organization of computer systems, operating systems, network computing, programming languages, software engineering - modeling, analysis and design of software, software management, human-computer interaction , graphics and visualization, artificial intelligence, information management - theory and practice of databases, relational and distributed databases, legal, ethical and professional aspects of computing), areas of information technology (security and provision of information, platform technologies, administration and maintenance of IT systems , technical support), areas of information systems (system analysis and logical design of IS, design of information systems, implementation of information systems, maintenance of information systems, development of specific types of IS, distributed systems), areas of computer engineering (engineering computer systems, networking and telecommunications) and in secondary scientific fields that are also studied at the Faculty, which are the basis of an interdisciplinary approach: (mathematical analysis, discrete mathematical structures, theory of algorithms, probability and statistics, numerical methods and operational research, general system theory, organization theory, decision theory, information theory, project management, pedagogical informatics, cryptography, E-business, change management, interpersonal relations and communication skills.

TYPE OF STUDY

The second cycle studies are individual studies, designed according to the student, which are carried out by a system of personal mentoring, conducting instructional and consultative classes and exercises, and organizing scientific research projects of the students. The second cycle studies are organized for the duration of:

  • two years, as four-semester studies, which are evaluated with 120 ECTS credit points (for students who have completed the three-year level of the first cycle of studies with an entry level of 180 ECTS credit points);
  • one year, as two-semester studies, which are evaluated with a minimum 60 ECTS credit points (for students who have completed the four-year level of the first cycle of studies with an entry level of 240 ECTS credit points);

So that in the sum with the first cycle, the total accumulated credit points, after the completion of the study of the second cycle, amount to 300 ECTS points.

APPROACH TO SECOND CYCLE STUDIES

A person who has completed a three- or four-year first-cycle study can enroll in the second-cycle study. Depending on the scientific field of the first-cycle study, which the candidate completed, three options are possible when enrolling in the second-cycle study:

  • If the study of the first cycle is in the home area of the enrolled study of the second cycle, the candidate is enrolled without additional pedagogical obligations.
  • If the study of the first cycle is partially matriculated with the scientific fields of matriculation of the enrolled study of the second cycle, the candidate is assigned a differential program that compensates for missing competencies. The content of the differential program is determined by the Commission for the recognition of exams and evaluation of study programs. The differential program cannot be greater than 60 ECTS points.
  • If the study of the first cycle is not related to the scientific fields of the registered study of the second cycle, the candidate's enrollment possibilities depend on the specificity of the basic scientific area of the study program. Students who have completed the first cycle of studies in the fields of "natural sciences" and "engineering and technology" can enroll, with the condition that they enroll in a two-year master's program in which the first year is actually the fourth year of the first cycle.
STUDY PROGRAMS - MASTER STUDIES
BIT ALLIANCE – Agreement on cooperation

Our study programs and the results we achieve in the field of IT education were recognized by Bit Alliance, the leading umbrella organization of the BiH software industry, with which we signed a Cooperation Agreement. Bit Alliance is an association of the largest software companies with more than 1800 employees. The main goal of the Alliance is to develop numerous opportunities on the market of the software industry, creating a positive business environment for the further growth of the BiH IT industry. One of the core missions of the Bit Alliance is to develop strong relationships with educational institutions with the goal of improving IT education programs and providing more learning opportunities. The signed contract refers to 3 segments of cooperation:

  1. BITA4students lectures by IT experts
  2. CoderDojo programming school
  3. Adapting the Apeiron curriculum to the needs of the software industry
