TYPE OF STUDY

Second cycle studies are individual studies, designed to suit the student, which are performed through a system of personal mentoring, conducting instructional and consultative classes and exercises, and organizing scientific research projects of students. The second cycle studies were organized in the duration of:

  • two years, as four-semester studies, which are evaluated with 120 ECTS credit points (for students who have completed a three-year level of the first cycle of studies with an entry level of 180 ECTS credit points);
  • one year, as two-semester studies, which are evaluated with a minimum of 60 ECTS credit points (for students who have completed a four-year level of the first cycle of studies with an entry level of 240 ECTS credit points);

Thus, in the sum of the first cycle, the total accumulated credit points, after completing the study of the second cycle, amount to 300 ECTS credits. The university conducts second cycle studies as a combination of a dialogue system of interactive teaching with student mentoring.

ACCESS TO SECOND CYCLE STUDIES

A person who has completed the study of the first cycle in a three-year or four-year duration may enroll in the study of the second cycle. Depending on the scientific field of the first cycle studies, which the candidate has completed, there are three options when enrolling in the second cycle studies:

  • If the study of the first cycle in the field of motherland is the enrolled study of the second cycle, the candidate is enrolled without additional pedagogical obligations.
  • If the study of the first cycle is partially registered with the scientific areas of registration of the enrolled study of the second cycle, the candidate is assigned a differential program which compensates for the missing competencies. The content of the differential program is determined by the Commission for the recognition of exams and evaluation of study programs. The differential program cannot exceed 60 ECTS credits.
  • If the study of the first cycle is not the main one with the scientific areas of the enrollment of the enrolled study of the second cycle, the possibilities of enrolling the candidate depend on the specifics of the basic scientific field of the study program. Students from non-mother study programs can enroll, provided that they enroll in a two-year master's study in which the first year of master's study is actually the fourth year of first-cycle study. In the second (final) year of study, the elective program may be replaced by a differential program.
SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH

Students' scientific research is realized through individual and team work at the university or within the framework of specialized scientific-research organizational units of the Pan-European University. Research teams can also include scientists from outside the Pan-European University "APEIRON", experts from practice, as well as scientists from other universities and scientific institutions from the country and abroad. University students can also be engaged in certain research activities.
