The European Commission awarded "Apeiron" the ERASMUS charter for higher education - an award that is carried by a rare number of universities in the area

At the end of June 2024, the European Commission granted the Pan-European University "Apeiron" an ERASMUS charter for higher education:

ERASMUS CHARTER FOR HIGHER EDUCATION 2021-2027 (ECHE).

"This award is a confirmation that the Pan-European University "Apeiron" fully met all three criteria required by the EUROPEAN EDUCATION AND CULTURE EXECUTIVE AGENCY (EACEA), thus proving that it has reached the highest quality standards in this area as well and that it meets all the requirements for the application to projects financed by the European Commission within any Erasmus program", said prof. Dr. Živana Kljajić, head of the office for quality and international cooperation of the University "Apeiron".

"Apeiron" University submitted a request to the European Commission to obtain an Erasmus charter, and the commission's report states that "Apeiron" fulfilled the first criterion, i.e. provided statistical data on his previous experience in the Erasmus+ program, thereby enabling an assessment of the general organization of mobility activities and the institution's overall Erasmus+ internationalization policy.

The Erasmus Policy Statement (EPS) is clear and consistent and shows that the Erasmus+ program will be relevant to Apeiron University's institutional internationalization and modernization strategy.

Furthermore, in the second criterion concerning the quality of organization and management, it is stated that the University shows a firm commitment to quality management for both administrative and academic structures. The description in the application convincingly shows that the internal management structure, decision-making process and dedicated human resources are well organized for the preparation, recognition, dissemination and evaluation of the intended participation in the Erasmus+ program, especially for KA1 and cooperation projects. Identified tasks also include financial management and support for the design and implementation of collaborative projects.

The new ECHE principles of inclusion and non-discrimination, described through the third criterion, are embedded in the internal organization of academic activities and the institution and proves that there are sufficiently developed initiatives to include potential participants with limited opportunities. It was confirmed that the principle of transparency will be properly applied to the information and selection of students by adopting an internal rulebook, using a well-distributed call for applications based on various transparent selection criteria.

The report also states that ECTS are properly allocated to academic activities in accordance with the User Guide and national accreditation legislation, that it has an institutional approach to environmental sustainability along with more practical measures such as the promotion of green travel and the reduction of energy consumption and waste. It was stated that a convincing description of the management and monitoring of inter-institutional agreements for study and teaching mobility was given.
