"It was a great honor to participate in such a meeting that brought together more than 450 judges, prosecutors, lawyers, law school professors, police officers and other legal experts from all countries of the former Yugoslavia. The report that I presented at the meeting was published in the collection of papers and is available to a wider readership," said the dean of the Faculty of Legal Sciences of the University of "Apeiron", prof. Dr. Ljubinko Mitrović, who participated in the 19rd consultation of the Serbian Association for Criminal Law Theory and Practice from September 21 to 63.


Penal policy and the adequacy of the response to criminality is the topic of this year's consultation, held in Zlatibor, to which many names from the legal world of Serbia and the surrounding area contributed scientific and professional works.


Our dean Mitrović spoke about the replacement of legally imposed prison sentences with fines and the (in)adequacy of the reaction to crime.


Introductory papers were presented by prof. Dr. Dragana Kolarić, judge of the Constitutional Court of Serbia and professor at the Criminalistics and Police Faculty in Belgrade, then prof. Dr. Milan Škulić, judge of the Constitutional Court of Serbia and professor at the Faculty of Law (Belgrade), Dr. Ivana Stevanović, director of the Institute for Criminological and Sociological Research in Belgrade, Adnan Baćićanin, senior public prosecutor in Novi Pazar and assistant professors at the Faculties of Law at the University of Belgrade and Podgorica - Ivan Đokić and Jelena Đurišić.


The goal of the organizer was that at the professional-critical meeting theoretical, normative and practical aspects of a large number of open questions of the current state of criminal policy as an instrument of the adequacy of the reaction of competent state authorities to crime in the Republic of Serbia and to give an answer to the question of whether it is in operation desired degree of adequacy of the fight against crime, viewed both from the point of view of the norm and from the aspect of its application.
