DECEASED PROF. DUŠKO MEDIC, DR

Duško Medić, our respected professor, colleague and friend, died in Banja Luka yesterday at the age of 69. Duško was a long-time professor at the Faculty of Legal Sciences of the Pan-European University. He was born on August 7, 1953 in Banja Luka, where he completed elementary school and high school. He graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Banja Luka in June 1977 and received his master's degree from the same faculty in February 2002 with an average grade of 10. He received his doctorate in Novi Sad in December 2004. At the Faculty of Legal Sciences of the Pan-European University "Apeiron" Banja Luka, he was engaged as a full-time professor in the courses Introduction to Civil Law, Real Law and Law of Securing Claims. He was the dean of this faculty and vice-rector of the Pan-European University "Apeiron".

He was a judge in the Basic Court of Banja Luka from September 1981 to March 1987, and he also served as the president of the civil department. He served as a judge of the Banja Luka District Court from March 1987 to July 1998. He was the president of the civil-economic-administrative department, and the deputy president of that court. He was appointed Deputy Public Prosecutor of the Republic of Srpska (for civil, commercial and administrative law) in June 1998. Since October 2003, he has been a judge of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Srpska.

He was the vice-president of the Association of Lawyers of the Republic of Srpska and a member of the Presidency of the Association of Lawyers of Serbia and the Republic of Srpska, as well as the editor of the Department of Civil Law at the October Lawyers' Days in Banja Luka.

He was also a member of the Commission for taking the bar exam in the Republic of Srpska and an examiner for the Civil Law subject, and a member of the commission for taking the notary exam in the Republic of Srpska and an examiner for the same subject.

He published 20 books and over 100 scientific and professional papers in civil, commercial and constitutional law and was a reviewer of several books and scientific papers. He participated as a lecturer in a large number (almost 200) of scientific and professional consultations in the country and abroad.

The commemorative gathering is organized by the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Srpska on July 2, 2022 at 10:30 a.m., in the small hall of the Banski Dvor Cultural Center.

The funeral will take place on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at 13 p.m., at the City Cemetery in Vrbanja.

The death of Professor Duško is a great loss for the Pan-European University, and we send our sincere condolences to the Medić family.
