VICE Rector SANEL JAKUPOVIĆ AND THE AMERICAN AMBASSADOR TO BIH OPEN THE 7TH BUSINESS FORUM DIASPORE-3BHDIAFOR 2021

"The "COVID 19" pandemic has slowed down and stopped economic activities and foreign investments in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the whole world - the exception is diaspora investments, which are expanding and accelerating", said Prof. Dr. Sanel Jakupović, vice-rector for scientific work and international cooperation of the Pan-European University Apeiron at the 7th BHdiaFor diaspora business forum, held on April 14 via Zoom applications.



Vice-rector Jakupović is also the president of the Business Forum, which has been active since 2013 and represents the largest gathering of the business diaspora of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Europe with 7 held forums, 1500 participants, numerous positive results in connection and investments such as ongoing project of the American Agency for International Development USAID "Diaspora Invest". He added that at the center of this event is the desire for the recovery of BiH, the joint work of local communities and their diaspora. 


Association "Naša perspektiva" in cooperation with USAID organized the seventh BHdiaFor, which was opened by Eric Nelson, the American ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Nelson emphasized that members of the diaspora in Bosnia and Herzegovina greatly contribute to the local home communities with their investments - investments increase and new jobs are created.



Edin Forto, Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton, said that diaspora investment in this canton is most visible in the IT sector, and that it will continue in that direction.


All participants agreed that Prijedor and the municipality of Lopare are the best examples of diaspora investments in their home communities.


"The doors of Prijedor are wide open for our diaspora, as well as for all investors" Dalibor Pavlović, mayor of Prijedor, emphasized at the Forum.


Rado Savić, the mayor of Lopare emphasized that in general we must be more accessible to the diaspora.
