THE FIRST MAN OF THE WORLD DANCE ORGANIZATION APEIRON'S DEAN

Prof. Ph.D. Velibor Srdić, Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences, will serve as the President of the International Dance Organization (IDO - International Dance Organization) from January 1, 2021. This was unanimously decided at the annual general assembly of IDO on December 17.

The current president, Michael Wendt from Germany, has announced his retirement, and Srdić, who has held the position of deputy president for the past nine years, will take his place. Velibor Srdić has been the president of the "Gemma" Banja Luka Dance Club since 2002, the president of the Association of Modern Dances in Bosnia and Herzegovina since 2008, and a long-time international IDO judge.

The International Dance Organization - IDO was founded in 1981 by Mr. Moreno Polidori in Florence. The founding countries were Italy, France, Switzerland and Gibraltar. At that time, the main mission of the organization was to organize continental and world championships, both for amateur and professional dancers, in all dance styles, except for rock and roll, Latin American and standard dances, which are under the jurisdiction of other organizations.

To date, IDO has grown its membership to over 90 countries from six continents. He is not only involved in organizing continental and international competitions and championships, but is deeply involved in many aspects of the dance industry. It constantly strives to improve the quality of its dancers, through participation, its judges through education and the image of national members.

Thanks to our University, the education of dance experts has been improved by the creation of an online platform, and that project has been successfully implemented in the past three years. In addition, we have developed modules for the education of dance judges, chief judges and delegates. We can be proud that we also put Bosnia and Herzegovina on the world map of dance events.''

By the way, in the past few years, thanks to prof. Srdić and his work in the IDO, received the organization of the European and world championships, as well as the annual IDO Assembly.
